Seniors from Ms. Caprio’s Creative Writing class at RCS High School recently visited A.W. Becker Elementary School to share their original picture books with younger RCS students. Over the past few weeks, these talented seniors have been writing, illustrating, and designing their own stories as part of a special unit focused on children’s literature.
The visit was a highlight of the course, providing high school students with the opportunity to present their books in small group settings. They read aloud to younger students and answered thoughtful questions from curious young readers.
To make the field trip even more special, some of the seniors were former A.W. Becker students themselves, allowing them to reconnect with their former elementary school teachers.
This project not only encouraged creativity, storytelling, and public speaking among high school students, it also helped inspire a love of reading in our youngest learners
