4th Graders Host Colonial Times Job Fair at A.W. Becker Elementary School

Step back in time! Fourth grade students at A.W. Becker Elementary School recently brought history to life by hosting a Colonial Times Job Fair, inviting their peers to explore careers from early American history.

The young entrepreneurs took on the roles of colonial tradespeople, setting up booths to “hire” apprentices for a variety of occupations that existed during the colonial era. From skilled artisans to essential everyday workers, each student showcased a unique profession, offering their classmates a hands-on glimpse into life in the 1700s.

In preparation for the event, students spent several weeks researching their chosen jobs and developing their own “businesses.” Along the way, they gained a deeper understanding of colonial life, learning about the skills, tools, and daily responsibilities that shaped early American communities.

The job fair itself was a lively and engaging experience. Students proudly presented their work, complete with creative displays, props, and interactive elements that made each booth both educational and fun. Their enthusiasm and attention to detail were evident throughout the event.

It was a wonderful day of learning, creativity, and collaboration, giving students the opportunity to step into history while sharing their knowledge with others. The impressive effort and excitement from all involved made the Colonial Times Job Fair a memorable success.
