☀️ What a wonderful week of outdoor fun at A.W. Becker! From sunshine to smiles, our students made the most of the beautiful weather. Check out Mr. Doran making great use of the new Buddy Bench thanks to AWB PTA. Friendship and inclusion are always part of the day at AWB and RCS!

Bravo to the A.W. Becker 5th Grade Drama Club! 🎭🍭On Friday, April 25, the talented cast performed a special student preview of Welcome to Candy Kingdom for their peers. The sweet and spirited show was a sneak peek of their upcoming stage debut, set for Friday and Saturday night, where they’ll perform for families and the community. The cast dazzled the audience with their candy-inspired characters, catchy songs, and colorful performances — a true treat for all!

Yesterday, we celebrated our incredible bus drivers and transportation staff. Rain or shine, early mornings and late nights, our RCS Transportation Staff work tirelessly to keep our students safe and get them where they need to go!
Bus drivers do so much more than drive - they connect people. They are some of the first hellos in the morning, the ones who celebrate with congratulatory high-fives after an away game day win, and they provide a listening ear on those hard days. Thank you for all that you do!

Last night was the spectacular A.W. Becker Elementary School Art Show and Science Fair! Our talented and creative students' beautiful artwork and scientific experiments lined the hallways for families and the community to see. Thank you to all the students, staff, families, and community members who supported this wonderful event!

RCS staff spent the afternoon focused on professional development, engaging in sessions on restorative practices at the elementary and secondary levels, certification pathways, and curriculum planning. In addition to learning and collaboration, staff enjoyed a fun fitness session with RCS retiree Terry Crawford!

The days are getting warmer, but the nights remain chilly, creating the perfect conditions for maple syrup production! Students at both A.W. Becker and Pieter B. Elementary have been learning about maple sap production, including how to tap trees and collect sap. If you’ve driven past either of our elementary schools recently, you may have noticed the beginning of the sap collection in bright blue bags, which will be transformed into syrup. Last week, several classes took a field trip to Crosstown Maple to learn more about the process of converting maple sap into delicious syrup and discuss the various methods of sap collection.

RCS Reminder: Monday, March 24, and Tuesday, March 25, are early dismissal days for PK - 8 for Parent Teacher Conferences. Please find more information about upcoming conference days here: https://www.rcscsd.org/article/2092525

It's March, and that means reading for a cause at Pieter B. Coeymans and A.W. Becker Elementary is officially here!
Both schools held exciting assemblies to launch a month full of fun challenges, reading adventures, and some incredible books. A.W. Becker is diving into their March Madness Tournament of Books, while Pieter B. Coeymans is celebrating One School, One Book.
Information about these programs has been sent home to families, so now it's time to get reading! 📚

A.W. Becker 5th grader Kevin from Ms. Palas’s class chose a police escort to school as his prize for being one of the top fundraiser earners for the A.W. Becker Boosterthon that took place before February Recess. Thank you to the Bethlehem Police Department for helping Kevin arrive at school in style!

How many baby teeth do we have? (A: 20)
How many times should we brush our teeth a day? ( A: 2, but more is even better!)
Our littlest learners at AWB learned the answers to these questions and participated in fun demonstrations during their assembly with EFROS Orthodontics this morning. The students had a great time discovering the importance of dental hygiene and why it’s so important to take care of our teeth! 🦷✨
