Upcoming Site Lighting Upgrade Project at Pieter B. Coeymans

Dear Pieter B. Parents and Families,

We would like to inform you of an upcoming facilities improvement project at Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School. Beginning the week of May 11, our district will be completing a site lighting upgrade to enhance safety and visibility around the school grounds.

This project will include the replacement of six light poles, along with new fixtures and bases. The work is expected to follow the schedule below, though timing may shift slightly depending on weather conditions:

Anticipated Project Timeline:
The tentative schedule is listed below, and is weather-dependent.

Week of May 11: Removal of existing light poles. Some parking spots will be unavailable during this work.

Week of May 18: Installation of new poles and connections. Some parking spaces will be unavailable when setting poles.

What to Expect:

  • All work will take place during regular daytime hours.

  • Student arrival and dismissal procedures will not be impacted.

  • Contractors are aware of school schedules, including buses and recess.

  • There may be a few days when recess locations are adjusted for safety.

  • A small section of the staff parking lot will be temporarily closed.

  • Work areas will be secured with fencing.

  • If needed, a traffic flagger will be present to help direct vehicles safely.

  • Temporary lighting will be provided to maintain campus safety
