At a special board meeting on Thursday, June 5, the RCS Board of Education appointed Craig P. Chandler as superintendent of schools. Mr. Chandler was offered a three-year contract that begins on July 1, 2025. He is currently the principal at Mohonasen High School.
“Mr. Chandler’s experience in transforming culture through relationship and consensus-building, as well as strong, transparent communication, is aligned with the needs of our school community,” said Board President Michael Deyo. “Feedback from our various stakeholders who participated in the search process identified experience in these areas as highly important to our District’s future success. We want to thank you for your input and participation in the process.”
Mr. Chandler has more than 27 years of experience in education and began his career as an English teacher in the Ballston Spa Central School District. He held positions as assistant principal in both Shenendehowa and Queensbury before joining Mohonasen in 2019.
“I’m honored to be joining the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk School District as the next superintendent of schools,” said Mr. Chandler. “I am eager to build trust through relationships and collaboration with the school community as we build a vision for the future.”
Mr. Chandler holds an M.S. in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology from UAlbany, as well as a B.A. in English 7-12 from the College of St. Rose. He lives in Ballston Lake with his wife, Jeannine, and two college-aged daughters, Olivia and Ella.
Opportunities to meet the new superintendent this summer will be shared once he officially begins. We do expect to have a meet-and-greet opportunity at the Board’s annual reorganization meeting scheduled for July 9, 2025.
