Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School students recently had the opportunity to explore careers in science and technology through a unique STEM career exploration program - SCI2MED hosted by Regeneron Pharmaceuticals in partnership with Questar III BOCES.
Designed for 9th and 10th grade students interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM), the program connects classroom learning with real-world careers in the biopharmaceutical industry. Students participate in hands-on workshops that introduce them to the science behind biologic medicines, including how antibodies are identified and produced to create treatments for serious diseases.
Participants also had the chance to meet and learn from Regeneron employees, who shared their experiences working in STEM fields and discussed the skills and education needed for careers in biotechnology.
The program also includes a visit to Hudson Valley Community College for the Capital Region STEM Poster Showcase, where students will view scientific research, connect with regional companies, and tour the HVCC/Regeneron Manufacturing Lab to learn more about biologics production.
Programs like this provide RCS students with valuable opportunities to explore potential career paths and see how their interests in science and technology can lead to exciting futures.
