Dear RCS High School Staff, Students, and Families,
I hope you have had an enjoyable, restful, and well-deserved summer. As we prepare to begin another exciting school year at RCS High School, I want to take a moment to welcome everyone back and share my enthusiasm for what lies ahead.
Our theme for the 2026–2027 school year is "Piece by Piece." This motto serves as a reminder that every positive interaction, every lesson learned, every challenge overcome, and every act of kindness contributes to building something extraordinary. Success is not achieved all at once—it is built piece by piece, day by day, through our collective efforts and commitment to one another.
As we begin this new school year, our focus remains centered on providing every student with a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where they can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Together, we will continue working toward our building goals in three key areas:
Strengthening communication through meaningful, two-way conversations between home and school.
Enhancing our culture and climate by fostering respect, kindness, accountability, and a strong sense of belonging for every member of our school community.
Improving academic outcomes by maintaining high expectations, supporting student growth, and celebrating achievement.
We firmly believe that the strongest schools are built through partnerships. We are committed to maintaining open lines of communication with our students, families, staff, and community members. We value your perspectives, welcome your feedback, and will always strive to listen and work collaboratively in the best interest of our students. Together, we can continue making RCS High School a place where everyone feels connected, supported, and inspired to succeed.
As part of our continued efforts to improve the learning environment, you will notice several updates and initiatives this school year.
I will be sharing important updates to our Code of Conduct, along with information outlining how we plan to address some of the most common concerns we experienced last year. Our goal is to create a school environment that is safe, respectful, and focused on learning while providing students with the support they need to be successful.
Additionally, we will begin phasing in an electronic hall pass system throughout the beginning of the school year. This system will help us better manage hallway and restroom traffic, improve student accountability, and maximize instructional time while ensuring students can still access the resources they need throughout the day. We appreciate everyone's patience as we gradually implement this new process.
Attendance and punctuality remain essential components of student success. We ask every student to arrive at school on time, report promptly to each class, come prepared to learn, and give their very best effort each day. Small habits lead to big accomplishments, and every class period is an opportunity to learn, grow, and move one step closer to achieving personal goals.
As your principal, I am incredibly proud to serve such an outstanding school community. I know that when our staff, students, families, and community work together, there is no limit to what we can accomplish. This year, let us continue building on our successes, supporting one another, and making a positive difference.
Thank you for your continued partnership, trust, and commitment to RCS High School. I look forward to welcoming everyone back in September and to another outstanding year filled with growth, achievement, and memorable experiences.
Have a wonderful remainder of your summer, and I'll see you soon!
Go Ravens!
Sincerely,
Ryan Funck
