A pair of seniors from Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School continue to learn about, and work, on big rig vehicles as part of the Diesel Lab on the Capital Region BOCES Career and Technical School Albany Campus.

James McMullen and Jarrett Scarcella aspire to careers working on and around diesel equipment and chose the BOCES program to shift their career options into high gear.

ā€œI enjoy working with the big equipment,ā€ said Scarcella. ā€œI like that the diesel program teaches you how to diagnose problems, fix them and learn how everything works.ā€

The diesel tech program, like every program at BOCES, benefits from strong industry partners that regularly donate equipment and advise faculty and administrators on the latest in technological advances in the industry.

The duo are among approximately 40 students currently enrolled in the Diesel Tech program. The program prepares youth for careers as automotive/bus/truck technicians, heavy equipment repairmen, service managers and more. While many students enter the workforce upon graduation, numerous other students from the program often pursue further education.
