RCS Middle School proudly inducted 33 students into the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) on Tuesday, May 12, during a ceremony held in the middle school gymnasium. The new inductees, made up of one eighth grader and seventh graders, were presented with membership cards and honored for exemplifying the five pillars of NJHS: Scholarship, Character, Citizenship, Leadership, and Service.
As part of the selection process, middle school faculty and staff completed a comprehensive evaluation of each nominated student. To be eligible, students must maintain a cumulative weighted GPA of 90% or higher and demonstrate a strong attendance record. On the day of the ceremony, students were formally welcomed into the NJHS through a small, celebratory tradition known as “tapping,” led by current High School NHS members.
“Induction into the National Junior Honor Society is a milestone that represents far more than academic achievement — it is a testament to character, leadership, service, and a commitment to excellence in all areas of life," said Middle School Principal Ms. Denise Schlatterer. "Our newest inductees have demonstrated that they are not only strong students but also thoughtful citizens who care about their school and community. This distinction comes with responsibility: to continue leading by example, to lift others as you climb, and to carry these values with you long after middle school.
