Our RCS Middle School principal, Laura Buzas, has been on leave for personal reasons since the spring of 2021. Her resignation for the purpose of retirement will be considered by the Board of Education at their November 17, 2021 meeting. We are so grateful for Ms. Buzas’ work on behalf of the students and staff of this district and we will miss her.
Denise Capese has been serving as an interim principal since the summer of 2021. She has built relationships with students and staff and, along with the middle school team, played an active role in our successful reopening this year. As part of our succession planning, we will be asking that Denise continue in her role as our interim principal through June 30, 2022. This will allow continuity of leadership as we search for our new principal.
A middle school principal hiring committee of community stakeholders will be gathered to develop our priorities for this important leadership position. We will begin interviews in early February, hire the successful candidate, and expect them to begin at RCS on or around July 1, 2022. We hope to develop the hiring committee and have at least one meeting prior to the December break.
