The Office for Student Support & Special Education Update

The Office of Student Support and Special Education will be holding its fourth Parent University on Tuesday, March 21, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. This will be a virtual presentation on Google Meet. Please note this meeting has been changed from the date originally printed on the District wall calendar.

In this month's Parent University, we will be reviewing the Annual Review process for families.

An annual review meeting must be provided for all classified students each year. The special education teacher and classroom teacher will report on the student’s academic progress toward their IEP goals. Every three years or when necessary, related service providers (speech, OT, PT, counseling) will also report on student progress. During these meetings, parents and faculty can discuss whether the student is meeting the criteria or fell short. With the information from the meeting, a new IEP is created with updated programming, goals, testing modifications, and accommodations to meet the student’s needs for the upcoming school year. Parents or guardians may also discuss their concerns or any new information that might be helpful about the student.

Please join us for our virtual presentation on Annual Reviews, where we will go over the above information more in-depth and provide an opportunity for questions. To attend virtually, on Tuesday, March 21, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., a link for the virtual presentation will be shared on the morning of March 21 in the following ways:

If you have any questions, please reach out to our Director of the Office for Student Support & Special Education, Colleen Agostinoni, at cagostinoni@rcscsd.org.
