There is a special kind of morning coming soon. Backpacks by the door. A first-day outfit already picked out. Maybe a photo on the porch steps, the same spot as last year, so you can measure how much has changed. Wednesday, September 9, will be that morning for our students, and I want you to know how seriously we take what happens once your child walks through our doors.

Last year, I told you that we would communicate honestly and build the kind of trust that has to be earned, not assumed. Many of you met me there. You came to meetings, filled out surveys, asked hard questions, and told me when we fell short. That effort helped build a new starting point, and I am grateful for it.

Now we move forward. This year, our work as a district centers on three commitments: Future Ready Learning, so your children graduate prepared for a future none of us can fully predict; Belonging and Safety, so every student and every staff member knows they matter here; and Fiscal Responsibility, so the resources you entrust to us are used with the care they deserve.

You will not see those commitments written on a wall. You will see them in a bus driver who learns your child's name in the first week, a teacher who stays a few minutes past the bell because your child needed those minutes, and a secretary who makes you feel like you called exactly the right place when something is wrong. That is what these priorities actually look like in practice, and it is the standard our staff holds for themselves.

Thank you for trusting us with something as important as your children. It is not a trust we take lightly, and it is one we intend to keep earning all year.

Your Back-to-School Resources

As we prepare to welcome students back, we’re sharing a few helpful updates and resources from across our departments to help families get ready for a smooth start to the school year.

Transportation: RCS Transportation will continue to use Stopfinder for current bus route information. Families can use the app to view and share their student’s bus schedule, receive updates, and communicate with the Transportation Department. Need help getting started or have questions? Please email the department: transportation@rcscsd.org

Food Service: RCS students will have access to free breakfast and lunch every school day this year! Families can view the September school menus online.

Calendar: The District calendar is now live on our website and in ParentSquare! Printed school wall calendars will be mailed to district families before the start of the school year. Additional copies may be available in the main office of each school or at the District Office, as supplies last.

Athletics: Want to know when and where our Ravens are playing? We’re excited to introduce ScheduleGalaxy, the new athletic scheduling platform for RCS Athletics. Be sure to visit our athletics webpage and follow along throughout the season!

Homecoming Is Coming! Join us Monday, September 21, as we celebrate our fall teams all week long! We’ll wrap up the festivities with Varsity Football on Friday, September 25.

School Supply Lists: Getting ready for the first day? School supply lists are now available on the district website to help families prepare for the year ahead.

Communication: This year, RCS will continue to use ParentSquare as our primary communication platform, from classroom communications to important alerts. Families and community members who do not have access to ParentSquare can find building and District news and updates on our website and social media channels.

RCS School Tax Payment Updates for 2026-2027

The Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District would like to share some important updates regarding 2026-2027 school tax payments. We’ve made changes to how residents can view and pay their school tax bills, including a new online payment portal, a new mailing address, and a new location for in-person payments.
