December was filled with creativity and joy in the art room with Ms. Chriss! 🎨✨ Our youngest artists in pre-K created festive fingerprint reindeer ornaments, kindergarten students brought ceramic owl figurines to life, and first graders explored clay through hands-on art projects. Fifth graders spread extra holiday cheer by teaming up with students across grade levels to design hand-painted Christmas cards, which were shared with the Outreach and Mission Committee of Emmanuel Friedens Church in Schenectady, led by Nancy Spencer. We’re so proud of our students for using their creativity to brighten the season! ❤️

The first day of school is almost here, and we can’t wait to welcome everyone back on Thursday, September 4, 2025!
In the coming days, families will receive welcome letters from our building principals and the Superintendent of Schools via ParentSquare.
Classroom placement letters and student schedules will be available next week in SchoolTool, and by mail for our Elementary and High School students. Middle School students can pick up their schedules on Thursday, August 28, during 6th Grade Orientation. Returning 7th and 8th grade students may also pick up their schedules between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM on the same day.
Thursday, August 7, was the last day for our Ravens Academy (K-5 program) and Ravens Quest (Grades 7-9 program). Over the past four weeks, students extended their learning through hands-on activities and going on learning-based adventures. Check out a few photos from this summer!

PBC Starbees Café Makes the Local News!
Pieter B. Coeymans’ very own Starbees café reopened earlier this June with a brand-new storefront! What began as a mobile coffee cart has now transformed into a cozy café space just outside the STEAM room.
Run by students in grades K–5, Starbees is a life skills project where students practice language, social, math, and communication skills by selling coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to staff on Friday mornings. Proceeds go toward a charitable cause chosen by the students themselves.
We’re excited to share that Starbees was recently featured on News Channel 10!

A small group of RCS Middle Schoolers stepped up as tour guides this week, welcoming next year’s 6th-grade class from A.W. Becker! These student leaders showed future middle schoolers around the building, answered questions, and shared what life is really like in middle school. It was a great opportunity for our students to lead with pride and help ease the transition for the incoming class.

This week, 5th graders from A.W. Becker took a field trip to RCS Middle School to walk the halls and meet some new faces! These students will be moving up to middle school next year, where they'll experience lockers, changing classes, and having multiple teachers for different subjects for the first time. The visit gave them a chance to ask questions, connect with current middle schoolers, and get comfortable in their new school environment.
