This week, RCS High School student and professional cornhole player Cameron D’Ambrosio brought his skills and enthusiasm for the game to his peers during P.E. class.
Cameron, who was featured on ESPN+ and won the 2024 National Junior Title, spent the class period introducing the sport and playing alongside the class. It was a great way to share talent, inspire others, and bring something new to physical education!

This year, the RCS Music Department was thrilled to expand its annual Meet the Instruments Night, welcoming both third and fourth-grade students and their families! This special event gave students a hands-on opportunity to explore a variety of instruments, get inspired, and start thinking about joining our growing RCS music program.
A big thank you to the staff of the RCS Music Department, members of the High School Tri-M Music Honor Society, and other talented high school instrumentalists who helped make the night a success. And a special thank you to John Keal Music Company for generously providing demo instruments, cleaning materials, and staff support. Together, we’re building a strong future for music at RCS!

Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, May 14, 2025, so that we may continue the cleanup from today. As you know, the fire alarm and sprinkler systems were activated, causing the building to evacuated and students and staff to be sent home early. This was caused by a fire that occurred in an upstairs bathroom that was, thankfully, immediately extinguished by our fire suppression systems. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
Our custodial staff worked this afternoon to clean up the water that was on the floors and walls of the first and second floors near where this incident occurred. There was some water damage on the walls and ceiling tiles, and some fire damage in the bathroom itself. The larger issue is that smoke spread from the area of the fire to nearby classrooms and hallway. A professional fire remediation team has been on site all afternoon attending to the cleanup and will need to continue their work into tomorrow in order to ensure a clean and safe learning environment for everyone. We expect PBC to reopen on Thursday and will notify families by 5 pm on Wednesday if those plans change.
Unfortunately, student belongings will need to remain in classrooms until the school reopens on Thursday.
Congratulations to our Middle School students for their outstanding achievements during the third quarter of the 2024–2025 school year!
We are incredibly proud to recognize the hard work, dedication, and academic success of those who have earned Honor Roll and Merit Roll distinctions. Keep up the great work! Read the list of students here: https://www.rcscsd.org/article/2205940

Yesterday, we celebrated our incredible bus drivers and transportation staff. Rain or shine, early mornings and late nights, our RCS Transportation Staff work tirelessly to keep our students safe and get them where they need to go!
Bus drivers do so much more than drive - they connect people. They are some of the first hellos in the morning, the ones who celebrate with congratulatory high-fives after an away game day win, and they provide a listening ear on those hard days. Thank you for all that you do!

Yesterday was Earth Day, remember to reduce, reuse, and recycle as much as possible! PBC teachers and students are encouraged to continue their efforts to reduce the amount of material taken to landfills by recycling. PBC 5th grader Adleigh A. created a reminder to recycle during Ms. Chriss's art class.
